A-arm guards for plowing
#1
Should I take the ricochet a-arm guards off for winter plowing? I recall someone talking about the snow freezing in the guards and ripping the cv boots. I live in the Kansas City area (not crazy cold) and the quad stays in a heated garage. Thanks

Yeah, What I am trying to ask is that the a-arm guards will collect snow inside. During the days plowing will it freeze/ ice up and rip the boots? Or does the freezing/ripping occur when it is stored outside in freezing temps then move it after it has sat and froze with the snow in the guard around the boot?

If you still have the stock guards I would put them on for plowing. Otherwise keep an eye on them while plowing. If they are constatntly getting full of snow you will not want them on because it will pack into ice and could potentially do some damage.

The ice will freeze after you plow and it sits awhile, clean the snow out right after you plow while the snow is still soft. Without the guards your boots will take the full hit when you ram into those hard snow banks.
I hit a ice mound so hard it broke one of my plastic cv guards. Better to change a guard then a boot.
