Default Should I get an ATC as a second bike?

Just want some input on the pros and cons of getting a Honda ATC. I am not interested in the high performance mondels. I am only interested in the "Big Red" Big Wheel versions with less than 200cc engines.

I was thinking about getting a second bike such as an ATC just to have around and take out on the sand /trail just to cruise. Not for jumping, racing, climbing, or anything crazy...just simply cruising or trail riding.

How safe is the ATC for just trail riding at 20mph......

How expensive are they to keep up?

The reason I am interested is I see several ATC's for sale for about $250 to $650 that are relatively in very good condition.

I appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

There are no cons as far as I'm concerned. Takes a little more body english than a quad but you will get used to it quick. Just don't ride outside of your means cause they will bite back. As far as upkeep change the oil and filter regularly and they'll last forever. Parts can be hard to come by, but e bay is a good place to get them.

Thanks for the feedback. When you say change the oil and filter regularly...so you mean as stated in the manual or is there a better methology to follow? Including for my new ATV.....

Different people have different views on this but I change mine about every 8-10 hrs. of riding time. Seems like a little much but to me it's cheap ins. and I've never had any oil related problems.

Yep, if the oil looks or smells dirty, dump it. As stated before 8-10 hrs depending... Also, keep the air filter clean.
