Default Help, need to get started for Christmas!!

Recently bought a 2006 70cc Wildfire atv for son (for Christmas). Guy bought from said hadn't ridden it in awhile so we jumped it off and it ran fine. I got it home and bought new 4 amp battery, installed it and now can't get to crank. The brake lights work but when push button to crank, nothing. What am I missing? Don't know too much about this stuff yet. Haven't owned one since I was a kid. Need help quick!

most kids quads have a lot of safety features, well most atvs anymore some won't start in gear you have to apply one of the brake levers some right brake lever some left some got little pull levers for starters some the normal push buttons

Thanks for everybody's help. Update: I troubleshot everything that was advised. Finally took "new" battery back and found out it was defective. Got another new battery and cranked right up! Thanks again.

Thanks for the idea to take the "new" battery back. Mine was bad too. Safe riding.
