Default High Whine in sportsman 450

Hi

I have a 2006 Polaris sportsman 450 That I bought new 2 years ago. It's been a great machine for me but last time I had it out it developed a high whine that seems to come from the rear of the machine. It is a constant whine but does very in pitch as you go over rough terrain. I know that it is hard to diagnose a problem with out hearing it. But I was wondering if any one else has had this problem and could tell me what might be the problem.

Thanks for any help you could give me.

Sounds like a belt.

Have you checked/changed the transmission oil?

All fluids were changed a couple of weeks before my last ride. The transmission is full. I don't think the belt would make this kind of noise.

well that should rule out the clutches or belt as the source of the whine. you could jack it up and check cv joints and bearings as well to make sure it's not them as well.

Could be the rear brakes hanging up with a bad caliper or a rock stuck in the brakes
