sputters

I was wondering how do i set the float hight on a stock trx 250r carb? also when i am putting in the new float valve which way does it go in? I put FMF pipe and silencer stock bore prolite piston new boysen reeds and a k&n filter with outerwears , airbox lid off. I am at a 152 main 48 slow 3rd clip possition, i'm at around sea level and use the stock carb. My bike still doesnt run good it sputters at 1/2 to full throttle. will setting the float level help that much around 1/2 to full? Any suggestions would be great i just wanna ride!

Take the carb out and take the float-bowl off. Turn it up-side-down. The floats should be level with the body of the carb. The "point" of the floats should be just a "hair" over 1/2" from the body of the carb.
The float valve can go in either direction. It just has to "hang" on the float assembly.
If it sputters from 1/2 throttle on, make sure all your jets (main, etc.) are very clean. With a .152 main and what mods you mention, you should be running well (if a little on the lean side) if your carb is clean.

I agree with trapperb1 on the float level, and also you are probably too lean on top, when I had my R set up like yours I ran a 160-162 main jet and a 50 pilot jet and DGJ needle in the 2nd groove from the top.Yours may be different though.
