Arrow need help with......sportsman 500

OK, I'm a newbie here and need a little help already.

The handle broke on my '05 pull start cord. It didnt retract inside bc a little bit of it stayed on. I want to change it, but am not sure how difficult it is to open up and replace this. I have been wrenching on machines all my life , so I'm pretty good in that dept. I just havent worked extensively on this one, yet.
Is this repair really involved ? How long should this take ?

Plus I dont have a service manual.

Anyone have a manual for this machine they want to sell ?

Thanks in advance

If it didn't retract inside, couldn't you pull it out, clamp the rope, and just put on a new handle? I've never done this so let us know how it goes.

yes, that is one option, but......

1- polaris doesnt sell just the handle
2- even if they did, the rope is due for replacement anyway
3- any other handle will not have the same seal as the polaris
( to keep water out of the trans box )

so the OEM replacement is the best option, imo.

It is no harder than a lawn mower. Replacing the rope may be wise if the rope broke at the handle.

I appreciate the offer. This would be the easy fix for now, but I think i should replace the cord and all.
When I bought this (used) it had a smaller battery in it and I was having a problem getting it to turnover on the compression stroke. So I would have to pull it by hand to get it past then crank it to get started. Thus, I kinda wore the cord down a bit.

I want to get a manual before starting this repair.
Anyone have a used one they want to get rid of ?
