Best thing is to stay within shooting range. That way if someone tries to make off with the quad, you can deal with it quickly. At least give them a really good scare. Actually, if I did what you are talking about I would lace a strong cable through the rims and put a huge Master lock on it. At the very least it would slow someone down. I think that most thieves would think twice about taking a quad parked off the trail during hunting season, though.

touch lamp censor and a stungun .
i would go with the cable as well to lock it up all so they make alarms for sport bikes might be able to get one of them. might scare off any game you were trying to bag tho.

Pull your power fuse. quick and easy to do and you don't have to worry about leaving with the lock attached which I know I would eventually do.
Plus a would be thief wouldn't think to check the fuses.
Another Idea is tether a large dog to the bumper.

I have an ATV ALARM on mine. Bought it on ebay for 50.00 and installed it myself. it comes with remote start and kill, and has a pretty good range on it. It also has a motion sensor so if someone evev trys to push the bike it will sound 5 short beeps as a warning. If you keep moving it during the warning it goes into a major alarm mode.
This was the first thing i installed on my new one after the last one was stolen out of my garage.
