I just changed the oil for the first time on my 2001 Scrambler 500 4x4. It has about 8 hours on it. Those 8 hours were put on about 3 months ago. It's been sitting in my shed waiting for spring. About every other day I would start it for about 5 minutes and maybe go up and down my driveway a couple of times. Anyway, when I first unscrewed the drain plug for about a second a clear liquid came out!! It went inside my enclosed oil pan before I could see what it was. Could this of been water????? If so, was that condensation from starting it so often and not running it??
Thank you!!!!

Water in the oil would only look milky if it was mixed. If you let the quad sit the water will seperate (water and oil dont mix well) and come out first like what he is describing. So if it had been sitting there for a few days then yes the water would come out first.

The water you experienced is caused by condensation, unless you're not saying that you sunk it already. One of the drawbacks to the dry sump oil system is that condensation happens frequently. 8 hours is a short time but think about how long it may have sat at Polaris or the dealer before you bought it? Change your oil at least every 3 months.

Water from condensation can be clear if it is allowed time to seperate. Coolant in the oil lookes like a goopy milkshake.
I'm not sure what condensation will look like while mixed in the oil.
Good advice to change oil every 3 months, or after the first ride after sitting 3 months or more.

I wouldnt think that there would be enough water created by condinsation to make it milky. Milky oil is usually from downing out.
