Cool Mysterious polaris oil

I just went to my local powersports dealer that sells polaris oil. I should have just went to my local polaris dealer but i got this oil. its in a 8oz bottle. It says "ATV FRONT GEAR DRIVE LUBE" The part nimbers are off by the last number. The number is 2871653. The stuff my book says to use is 2871654.
Should i use it or call polaris dealer and ask what its for or just take it back and get money back to buy from polaris dealer??

I think it was mid year that Polaris came out with a front drive fluid that was for most polaris's. But check those numbers to be sure.

53 is the premium front lube and i'm guessing the 54 is the LT front lube.

2871653 is the old number for the front gearcase fluid that had the awd in the hubs. The number 2871654 is the old number for the demand drive hub fluid, both in 8 oz bottles.

Take it back and get the right stuff. Your machine requires the DEMAND DRIVE FLUID!

Those Hillard front differentials are finicky as to the correct type and amount of fluid. Don't chance it.

Sounds like you got the wrong oil from the dealer, its for the gearcase only! Even if he has the old Demand drive fluid you can use it, only difference is part number change and new Demand Drive Fluid is in larger bottles. THAT is if you have the older machine that requires it.

I still am working on em! Almost close to retiring. I still have a few bottles of the "older" fluids also. You need the "demand drive fluid" for your front gearcase. OPT

My manual (Clymer) also states 2871654. This is for the front hubs of my '99 500 Sportsman, not the gear case which om my machine takes a std. GL 5 80-90 oil.
My local dealer here in Norway gave me 2877283.

I emailed Polaris Scandinavia just to be on the safe side. They confirm that 2877283 is the correct fluid for the hubs.
