I had a 2005 AC 500 and wanted a little more power and of course the EFI of the newer 700. I went out and bought a used 2006 700 AC. I have a friend that bought a 2006 AC 500 TRV. We went riding this past weekend and his 500 was just as fast as my 700, I had another friend on my old 500 and that was slower than the TRV and the 700. His ATV is stock as is my 700. What can I do to liven the 700 up? What will give me the best bang for my bucks? I saw a video on you tube of a 700 EFI doing burn outs on pavement, mine can barely do burnouts in the mud (not really but disappointing) What is the difference between the 2005 AC 500 Auto and the 2006 AC 500 TRV Auto? Is the gearing different, clutches different, jetting different? What can I do to make my 05 AC run like the 500 TRV? I checked the plug and it looks like it is burning correctly. Would a jet kit for that make a big difference? Are the gearing different between the 05 and 06 500 and 700? Would it be better to switch the 500 gears into the 700 or are they the same? Thanks for any answers you can provide.

 

Do you have the 700H1 which is the Arctic Cat hemi engine, or the 700, which is a Suzuki engine?. The hemi has more low end grunt, the Zuke can be peped up using the VDI engine controller.

 

if its an 06 it should be the suzuki engine. pretty sure the H1 came out in 07or 08 only on the silver edition 700,then all the 09s had the H1 engine. i bought the copperhead vdi hefty lefty is talking about and i run 28" tires with a clutch kit. when i ordered the copperhead they asked if i had larger tires,so they programmed it for te 28s. basically its back into stock form as far as power now. you can go to postion 2 on the copperhead and its supposed to give a little more power,up to 8hp more. i raced my buddy on his 650 with out it one day and he would get me off the line every time, put the copperhead in and left him behind and he said i just kept leaving him faster and faster. So i guess it works. The down side, i lve at about 600 ft elavation(st louis,mo),and in wyoming it ran fine up to about 5,000 ft,but at 9,000, the bike would idle fine but once you gave it some gas it fell on its face and die. it does not acount for barametric pressure. i asked lyle from vdi about it. but you can download software to be able to ride at high alttitude with it. for me,its easier to just put stock ecu back on when i go out west to wyoming

 

Where is the best place to get the VDI controller? How much do they cost? I need to do something as it feels just like my 500 but alot smoother. Any other Mods you guys would suggest? I had no idea that there was 2 different 700 engines out there, Mine must be the Suzuki as it is an 06.

 

Either look it up on the internet or you can call them at 1-403-668-7470. they're in alberta canada(calgary). $400.00 u.s. dollars. just google vdi(velocity devises inc.) oh and i just talked to them they said it was 4-6 hp more not 8.
