Default 1994 Yamaha Warrior 350

Hey,
I am looking at getting a 94 warrior 350. I have spoken with the guy who has it for sale and he said the only known problem is it is a cold start. He said once it warms up it is fine. I asked about electric start, reverse, brakes, and compression,,, he said all these are fine. He is asking $1,200.00 FIRM. Is this a good deal, and how major is a cold start issue. Would it be a quick fix, or a costly in-depth issue. Please help me on this as he is bringing it to me in the mourning unless I call him and say no. I DID go look at it, it looks ok, but I know little about these, and he had no room to ride.
Thanks,
Brett

Cold start issue might and hopefully would just be an issue with the choke. How cold is it where you are? And what is the actual issue? Does it not catch? Does it not wanna start? What does it do?

He started it and it ran a tad rough and eventual died. It was not cold where it was at. Its in the 30's where I live, but it was sitting in a heated garage, so when it was started it was probably about 55-65 degrees. Is that bad????

well, did he choke it to get it running? no this doesnt sound like a major issue. like did it just start and idle rough than quit? the choke cable might be out of adjustment, way to test is when he drops it off and u wanna go for a ride, take off the seat and airbox lid, take off the filter and crank it over with ur hand over the air inlet to the carb. that will cause a maximum choke aka u r letting in zero air and it should fire right up.
IMO this sound either choke related or carb related both are in expensive and nothing to worry about.
PS how did it run? had power through entire RPM range

He didn't choke it at all. He just turned the key and hit electric start. I did not get the chance to ride as he had no where to ride at house. He assured me its mechanicaly sound. I guess if its not a major deal eaither way, I won't concern myself with it. Is $1,200.00 fair. It look ok for age, and just needs a few things replaced that are worn, but nothing major that I saw. I plan on giving it a test ride, but chances are he will only bring it, if I intend on buying due to distance he has to travel!!
Thanks!!!

Well maybe that's all it needs, a lil choke to get it running, weird how he wouldn't try it, well good luck, what else needs replaced?

The handle bar grips are worn along with the back tires. He just replaced the back bearings. I think thats all i noticed that was visualy "shot" Like I said he wasnts $1,200. One more question is are these decent quads, and how do they do performance wise??

Ya 1200 sounds ok, they preform ok all round, they are decent, is this ur first quad? IMO this bike is more ment for the trails as you can lug it down low, not the fastest as its outdated technology, but for the good old fun factor I imagine you'll be happy for a while , where you located?what kind of ridin?

I live in Michigan. The place I just started renting has 4 acres of trails outback that come included with rent. They are nothing fancy just straight trails with some turns. No water holes or jumps or anything. I just want something depenedable semi-fast, that maybe someday I can take to some REAL trails!!! My buddy has a 1985 Honda TRX250 Fourtrax Utility. I would like to be able to beat him if we were goofing around and wanted to race....
