This is on my '08 Trailblazer I just bought new last Saturday. While I was riding I noticed a noise I though was coming from the chaincase. Kind of like a rattle or clanking noise. I got off to take a look. Seems to be enough fluid. Then I just pushed it back in forth in neutral a bit and saw the chain is hitting the swingarm at that little black piece, slider I believe its called. Anyways, I'm assuming that it is too loose as I'm assuming it shouldn't be touching anything. Can anyone verify. Can't believe it has loosened up that much already. Probably only rode it 8-10 hrs.

 

it should have slack, take a ratchet strap connect it to the swing arm and rear rack tighten it up so the rear suspension is full compression measure the slack in the chain it should be between 1/2 and 3/4 inch play if it is your good to go. DO NOT tighten the chain so its not touching the swing arm while its in its natural position. If you do, when riding the quad your suspension will compress and stretch the chain causing it to ware out before its time.

 

I get what you're saying about making it too tight, and I hope it is good when I check it. Only thing is, I noticed it when I was driving when it should've been compressed and somewhat taught because I'm about 190-200lbs. It hasn't done that the past few days, just noticed it today. I'll fully compress the suspension in the morning and check the slack. The manual says 3/16"-3/8" when it is at it's tightest position. Hopefully all is good, I just know it will be hard for me to ignore that sound. I'll check it in the morning. Thanks for the info!

 

I know what your saying, every now and then i hear mine and wonder if im going to make it back to where i started but all is well. Check it and see if its good. Ride the quad and in no time you wont hear the chain your mind will focus on something else. I`d be willing to bet that sound was always there you just didn`t tune your senses on it.
