Default 2007 Polaris Outlaw 90 Questions

My sons 2007 TRX 90 was recently stolen, therefore, its replacement time. I loved the honda, but the lack of suspension and reverse was a dissapointment. I have read mixed reviews about the Polaris...what do you all think? Good or Bad...???

He is a big kid for his age of 9, but he is definitely not ready for a 200...Thanks in advance!

I hope you are not a reflection of what this site is all about. Do you even own an ATV? Its obvious you have never had to pay for one!

Seriousely. Take him around to some dealers. Let him bounce around on some seats and look at his options. Teach him how to shop for a bike. He will take alot of pride in a bike that he chose. Or you can pick out your favorite and stick him on it.

I did not mean anything negative.

My bad...Maybe my fuse is a little short these days because the theft just happened last weekend. Thanks for keeping your cool and explaining your reply. I apologize for assuming the worst.

I hear you on teaching him, and I have been working on that, however, he is still 9, and not the easiest to convince!...lol! He wants the raciest most advanced bike he can get his hands on. This is because he is training for the X-treme Olympics and wants to do back flips on his quad!. His father on the other hand knows that a 4 stroke with reverse would be ideal for the trails we ride on. I'll get him a bigger bike soon, but not for at least 2 years. By then, his little brother will be just old enough for the 90. At that point I'll grab the older boy a 200 or something along those lines.

We have a condo on Moosehead Lake in Maine, so aggressive trail riding fits us like a glove. We do get into some technical stuff as well, thats why I like reverse and a 4 stroke. I just wonder if the Polaris has the quality of the Honda...???

Thanks

cool. I let my 6 year old daughter help choose what to get for her first quad. She decided on the Bomb DS50 because she said "its fast and I can keep it for a long time". She chose it over the pink one that fit her better. We talked about how we wanted to use it, style of riding, looks, maintenance, budget, and alot of other things. Ultimately she decided on the one she would grow into and is relatively low maintenance. She installed a new battery and we worked together installing a tether. Two years later, Now she washes it and lubes the chain after almost every ride. She is saving her money for upgrades. It payed off for me to involve her from the beginning.

Personally, I would take the Honda over the Polaris.

My son just turned 10 and when he was 8 I bought him a Polaris Outlaw 90. He loves it! I ride Honda but did not like the fact that the Honda did not have reverse, lights and not automatic plus the Outlaw is the coolest looking quad out there (that;s important to a kid LOL) We have only recently had a small problem with it stalling in water - I am just starting to look for the problem so I can't tell you if this is an easy fix or not. Overall. I'm very happy with the Outlaw. Hope this helps.

If you will be buying new, then I would look at the Yamaha Raptor 90. Everything that makes the TRX so great, except it has a cvt tranny and better suspension. Otherwise I think the Outlaws make great kids' quads. They don't have the Honda reliability, but they are still pretty good and certainly not crap.

I haven't had a kids quad with reverse yet. but I have to say I kinda wish all my bikes had reverse just to make parking at home easier LOL. and some trails a little rough rocky stuff on steep grades I'm not at all into spinning the bikes around so my 660 is what I ride in rough stuff lol.

The problem with Polaris's small ATVs (200cc and down) is they do not make them, there contracted out two a Chinese firm.

You can tell because Polaris only uses "Mikuni" carbs but there small ATVs use chinese "Sunworld"carbs.

I would look at the Yamaha Raptor 90, or Arctic cat 90 dvx.
