Valve clatter noise on new Rubicon
#1
Hey everyone bought my Ruby last friday night been riding about 32 miles and noticed valve clatter when I stop real fast or climb a hill fast. I checked the oil level and it seemed a little over full. any idea's . Also ride between 6 and 12,000 ft and wanted it rejetted and the service rep said that they didn't reccomend it because the rubicon's had done fine at higher elevations w/o rejetting. If I stop suddenly sometimes the engine will stall out. Think maybe its running to rich. Please any comments would be great cause overall I like the Ruby and Iv'e never had problems like these on my 450 or my wifes Rancher. HELP!!! At least it's under warranty.

If you are at that elevation it should be jetted with a 152 (mine came with a 158 since I am at low elevataions). What does your plug look like? Mine was super rich from the factory and I have gone down to a 152 just to lean it out. If for some reason you got one with a 158, you will be way to rich at that elevation. Does it bog down when you push the throttle. That is the usual way to see if you are too rich. Pull the plug and look and see what color it is.
I have not noticed any abnormal valve clatter.
Dont forget to take the slack out of the throttle cable.

I herd it, super bad valve noise! It only happens for a few seconds and i am 99% sure it is the auto decomp system... is your idle to low? Mine was. If your idle is to low it will do 3 things
1. the decomp will kick in and make horrable valve noise
2. make your engine die very easly
2. the decomp will help kill your engine
