Default 500 HO overheat issues

I just got this 02 sp and the hot light come spon when you ride. It can idle with no problems. The previous owner bypassed the temp sensor because it went bad. It now has a toggle switch. I looked to clean the radiator and noticed with the fan on air was blowing out the front of the radiator. Is it possible he wired fan wrong and caused it to run backwards. Can definitely feel air blowing forward thru the rad when you put your hand in front of it. This would cause zero air flow when riding.
Also had to adjust float. It still spits alittl gas out when you ride it but not much. HAd the carb off about 6 times to get it that good, before either flood out after 5 minutes of riding or getting no gas at all. Thanks for the help. TonyT

the stock fans are design to pull air thru,so whatever they did is not correct.

Air should be pulled through and make sure the radiator is CLEAN.

Is it possible to wire the fan wrong and change direction? Being DC I would think so.

Yes if he monkeyed with the two wires it will cause the fan to turn the wrong way.

I tested my fan once if i changed the + - DC source the fan will run in opposite directions.

The fan is made by SPAL and there all pullers.

sounds like he reversed the wires to go backwards for sure. just change the wires or put a new sensor in it.

These Rad themal switches will work and are found much cheaper at a auto parts store but you will have splice your old connection from the Polaris (4010161) thermal switch.
