i went to a polaris dealership in bastrop today and scoped out the polaris quads in the showroom. upon close inspection of the sp500 ho i came to the realization that the ac is built much stouter. the front end of my ac is so heavily reinforced that seeing through it takes much effort but the sp took none at all. i'm not knocking polaris because if it works it works, but to me the more overbuilt and redundant the better.

just a thought,

Tim1,

"You, out of the gene pool!"

I'd like to see that test in the mags.

Texas Cat,
I have to disagree with you. My parents own two Polaris Sportman 500's. I will own my AC here the week after next. Now my dad's polaris machines have been strong and reliable. We have gone everywhere on them. The only down side to polaris is the fact that you have a higher maintenance routine of greasing all the grease fittings. And some are a pain in the but to get to. The other thing is the fluid resivoirs are hard to reach when filling them up. (I do all the maintenance on their machines)
I think AC has thought the layout of their machine better than polaris. You have better and easier access to your fluid resivoirs and they require less maintenance. These are the only reason I have chosen AC over the polaris.
As far as durability well, I guess we will see but from my dad's machines I don't expect that his will be breaking down anytime soon. I don't think that my new AC will break down either.
As far as structural strength I am not sure. The AC has a lot more bracing which can also be as bad as it is good. The polaris has less bracing but I never hear of them bending or breaking. So I think they are both structurally sound. It's just that the polaris frame would probably weigh less.

Well anytime you drive two of the best big green thumpers at each other its not going to look good, it would be fun to watch, I would have to put my money on the AC.
Thanks
