Best for my needs
#1
This is a tricky issue. I have almost 74000 acres in West Texas.
Ground goes from almost flat to stacked and packed, to clay and even 'blow-sand'. It does rain here, sometimes. lol
I need opinions for the 'Best" for the following.
1) I have chores, some kinda heavy.
2) I have to chase down trespassers, atv, and horse.
3) I have a need for speed anyway, and I can handle 60 plus easy.
I have some exp on a few machines, and was thinking about the Brute 750, but I need opinions on this issue. I can only ride one, and I don't have the time to go back and get the other anyway.
So in short, I need something that can catch anything, and still work hard.
Any Ideas?
And thanks.

Catch anything and work hard = CanAm Outlander 800
Catch almost anything and work harder = Polaris 850
Most brands top of the line big bores will do what you are looking for although I'd rank the big Honda last for both work and speed. Outlander and Brute Force will lean towards the speedster side of work/play. The heavier weight of the Polaris and Artic Cats will make for a better work machine. Yamaha Grizzly will be somewhere in the middle.

I say either the arctic cat 1000 simply because its a work horse and its fast. If not the fastest, then a close second. Or the can am 800,fast and will probably handle better as it tends to be more high speed friendly with a lower center of gravity and sportier ute. the polaris is good choice as well, fast, has the best suspension in my opinion and is a good farm working quad. You have to think though, a 7-800 lb machine running 60+ mph can get you injured in a hurry. Id go test drive the atvs you are interested in and go from there. one atv will have something the others dont or do have.

Thanks for the info.
I never considered the Can-Am, just no dealing with it.
The Brute is still in the running, as is the Polaris, and then the Can-Am is there now.
The Brute I know, a bit at least. It is pretty fast, and can work well, but the info I am getting on the Polaris and Can-Am is making me think. The Brute is cheaper, but are either of the others worth the extra? It sounds like they are, but what is the 'Real-Life' story?
I never buy anything only on what any Mag or dealer tells me. They all have something to gain.
Thanks again

Another thought would be the previous years (2006-2009) Polaris Sportsman X2 in either the 700 or 800cc) This is a more work oriented machine. It has best rear capacity at 400 lbs. The rear is a pickup-like dump bed that also converts to a second seat for a passenger. It can tow over 1200 lbs. I've towed well over that and it did it without any issues. This would be less on the sport side of things than the XP but they don't make the XP version of the Sportsman X2 with the 850 yet.

if i were in your shoes and money wasnt an issue, i would look into the arctic cat 1000 and the polaris xp 850. remember, theres no replacement for displacement if you need to chase down folks. i think of the weight of the polaris as a plus for work. not sure if the frame on the outlander is built for heavy work, but i do not have personal experience on any of these machines, just my 2 cents from when i did major spec and paper research all of last year when looking into getting my quad. good luck and let us know what you get!

Fuel economy is low on the issues, Speed, controllable, si at the top, but it has to snag snuff around when needed, and be able to carry tools and such, daily. T-posts add weight fast. so does cement bags. One of the ATV's that runs through here is a Grizzly 400. I need to run it down. some are sport bikes, but they are mostly smaller.
I know to run something down, you have to Way Exceed their speed. I can do it, if the ride can. I don't scare, and that can be a bad thing sometimes. But I am tired of fixing fence in the same spots every day.
I have been close to the Grizz, but I want to get in front, before the property ends. We are gonna have us a talk.
I can run 60 plus here, I'v done it. And it was fun. How about 80, 100? lol
OK, that wont happen, but....

Thanks for all the info.
Price is an issue, why pay 12 when 10 will get what you need?
Honestly, I have a bit of bias towards the Brute. This is because I have rode it some. But, I think it should be faster. I know, if I want to go fast, get a sport/race bike. But those just wont do the work.
The brute will do the work I need it too. And it is less expensive than the Can-am and Polaris. I have some experience with Polaris (sleds). I know, Texas? What can I say, I spent some time in Alaska.
All the Name-Brands are good, I think, so the brand is not the issue. If it were, the Brute would be under me now.
Anyway, I have to choose one, so someone talk me out of two of the three. lol
