Couple of thoughts...

Look at the 700 Cruiser. It's plenty fast, and costs less. A 1000 would scare your passenger.

I looked long and hard at the can-am, but kept reading stores about frames getting bent on light impact. You can buy an aftermarket rail to strengthen the frame, but for the high price they charge, you shouldn't be buying new frames after hitting a pothole.

Don't know much about the Polaris, one way or another.
