I have a utility 1997 honda 300 4x4.Can you suggest some tools or equipment (other than first-aid kit,tow rope, tire repair kit, gps)that may be usefull on a trail ride?
Something that you have found usefull or wished you had at some time?.

I am limited to weight and size of course.
Thanks for any insights.

I found that a small set of various sized plastic zip ties are priceless when out on the trail.

I also went to a bike shop, and bought a tire pump
for bicycles. It's very compact, and I even used it to set a bead one day on the trail. The guy (a stranger) even tried to give me $10 for saving the day, (of course I wouldn't accept it). I only paid $7 for it. A tire plug kit is a must. A buddy got a dime sized gash in his sidewall one time, and we shoved five plugs in it. That was two years ago, and he still has the same tire on his quad. A plug wrench is a must. I also keep a small set of vice grips on board. I keep an assortment of tools in a soft sided six pack cooler, and bungee it to my six pack rack. I also keep a canteen of water, a camera, and a shop rag or two in it.

I always carry:
Tire pump and plug kit with lots of plugs
10mm-19mm combination wrenches
10mm-19mm deep well sockets
Socket wrench with swivel head
6 inch extension
Small 2 ton bottle jack
2 pliers one big and one small
2 flat blade and 2 phillips head screwdrivers
Lots of zip ties
Electrical tape
Various hose clamps.
Vice grip pliers.
It may sound like overkill but I have used almost all of it while on the trail. It all fits (believe it or not) in a small softside bucket mouth toolbox which I waterproofed. It is about 20 lbs of gear but it is so nice to have.
