Default 1982 Honda atc 250r

Hi I just bought a Honda 250r trike and I am having trouble with the fuel mix, the sticker on the tank says 20:1 petrol (gas) to oil but it wont run right for me? The bike has had a complete engine rebuild with new gaskets and seals. The barrell has been bored out to suit a new larger .75mm wiseco piston. It has new EBC friction plates and clutch springs with a new clutch cable. The work on the bike had been carried out by the last owner so would this make a difference to the mix? I read somewhere that people were using 32:1 mix, is there any rule on this or is it a case of trial and error? Any help would be appreciated. Alvin

Thanks for the reply 4bratsdad, I will try the 32:1 mix and see how I get on, but I now have another issue, the gear selector is moving on the shaft and not selecting gear, the grip treads are worn too much so I must get a new one, someone did suggest welding it too the shaft, but I would prefer to get the right one for it. Where do you guys get your parts? Alvin.

go to ebay type in honda 250r atc make sure it says for your years, pretty sure the 85-86 wont work, not real sure if the 81-82 first generation 250r will work with 83-84 2nd gen 250r, check out air foolers .com whole site dedicated to air cooled 3 wheelers

'83-250r do you need to know how much trans oil you need ? there's a plug in the left side case marked "fluid level" i believe...take that out and with the trike on level ground fill it till it weeps out the hole and your full
