Just watching Pres Obama's speech about the Gulf spill and fuel consumption in the USA. What we (atv'ers) should watch for is;

1. Higher fuel prices
2. Electric atvs with long extension cords. Maybe solar?
3. Adapters to convert to propane.
4. Wind power maybe sails.
5. Harnesses so illegals can pull us around.

Whatever is coming, I don't think we'll like it. Americans and Canadians alike.

 

Don't be too harsh on the electric part just yet Mongrol! The new EV Ranger is a blast and loads of torque,plus battery charge isn't too bad. YES you are sitting on top of EIGHT deep cycle batteries which is the drawback on most electric vehicles. I would still love to own a Tesla roadster with their lithium battery(which probably costs as much as the car to replace)but the electric motor technology is in place(the Ev has a 38 HP motor and plenty powerful enough) for most applications motors are not the problem,just the battery! Maybe not in my lifetime,BUT hopefully within my son's lifetime they will be common and give hydrogen a run for the money! Just ranting from an old man! I do like the harness part you mentioned though!! OPT

Without spending a gazzillion dollars on subsidies from a Lib GVMNT, we won't see anything but oil for the lifetime of anyone alive right now.

OPT, if you are old enough you should know better. This is the same scare they made back in 1979.

As for PBO, if he would stick to solving pproblems instead of pushing his agenda, he might get some respect sometime in his 4 years.

 

We, Canada, are the largest supplier of OIl to USA, so thankfully, you should not worry. Thankful that Obama does not control our oil.

 

I think in Canada we regulate the oil companies to have a relief well in place when off shore dilling especially deep ones,not drill one 3 months after the disaster. BPs relief well will not be up and running until September while 60,000 barrels a day heads for shore.

Relief wells double the cost and but I hear oil companies have lots of cash.

 

I think the only thing trapping all of that HOT AIR is our 26" stock tires. I have 27" but who's counting?

I have a feeling President Dill Hole will close off all our riding areas before he moves to electric ORV's. He is going to try and kill the sport just like he is trying to do with gun sales by limiting the amount of ammo sales! No one can shoot if there is no ammo just like no one can ride if there is no riding areas!

 

What amazed me about that spill was the refusal on BP's part to use containment/processing ships that a Canadian company owns to suck up and process over 20,000 barrels per day. Two such ships were available to help. One off Canada's East coast and one in the China sea. BP, in conjunction with a minor US beaucrat, decided they could handle it.
