Default Should I Buy It?

There is a local ATV Guru that is in to all the mud bogs and competitions and I have been looking for an ATV for a long time. I have had 4 Honda ATVs (Foreman, 2 Ranchers, and a Rubicon) and I'm looking at a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. with a lift, 32" Silverbacks on 14" ITP SS212 the ATV itself looks to be in good condition with only minor cosmetic issues (scratches, mud stains, etc..) He is asking $5000 and I only have $4500. What should I start the offer at, and would this be good buy??? Thanks, Matt 8)

Welcome to the forums.

What an atv is worth will vary for different areas of the country. Check local ads and places like craigslist to see what something closer to stock is going for. As far as the mods, they may tell you they've got 1000 dollars in mods tied up in the machine. That's nice, but a mod never carries it's purchase price on resale.

thats a tough one... Even though the ATV looks good and is probbly a bad *** machine, if it was used for mudding only... it is hard to say what the inside of the machine looks like. Water in the engine is never a good thing.
