welcome to the forums. is this a 2004 04 a 2004 1/2 year bike. they made changes mid year of some of them. is your speedometer working? the awd runs through it and it needs to be working.when you flip the switch it does not show awd?

Is the 2004 the with the Hillary in the front diff rather then two in the hub? Maybe the infamous exploding plastic roller cage. For the awd to work the speedo must work and the awd light must come on.

should say that when you change to awd no symbol comes up but the turf control on the rear diff sounds like it is working.

is your hilliard clutch out on the hubs or is it in the differential? in diagnostic mode did you put it in gear to tell if your awd was turning on and off, if the switch is working, then it is probably the roll cage and you have to pull the front diff out and tear it apart

think that it is in the diff but not sure. when in diagnostics if you change gear it jumps out of diag. mode. But when I turn the awd switch over it does not change from awd off to awd on. As you can tell i am a complete novice with these machines so is stripping out beyond the average person ? thx for taking the time to respond

under the front rack and the plastic, there should be a connector, it's got a gray wire and a brown wire, with your awd switch in the on position, take your meter and check for voltage, not sure which one is hot wire, i have to guess cuz i can't differentiate the color of the wires. "colorblind"
