Dealer dissappointment
#1
When I set out to buy two 500 HO's a few weeks ago I called all the local dealers. I told them all that i had to trade in two sport bikes to make the deal( no room in garage) one in Victoria, Tx who said he didn't want the bikes and i explained i can't do it without the bike trade. The one in El Campo said they would rather not have the kawasaki sport bike, but no hard feelings. I was told by the one in Victoria that it would not be a problem to get my four wheelers worked on. I ended up having to get the bikes in Austin, Tx. Now that i took them for the first trail ride they won't stay running. I called the dealer in Victoria and he asked if i bought from them, i said no and told him why. This guy told me to take them back to Austin to get them worked on.

The nerve of this dealer is beyond me. just thought i would warn everyone. Although I didn't name names there is only one dealer in Victoria, Tx.
PS cudos to El Campo cycle center, after talking to them they told me to come in and they would take care of any warranty issues or service no problem.

i have seen that before up in this area and it's plain stupid for a dealer to do that as they get money no matter what it is and where it came from. pretty **** poor PR for him

That does suck! I have a dealer in the area that will try to gouge you or give you the run around if you didn't buy from them. Fortunately there is another dealer within 30 miles away (Polaris/Victory/Harley Davidson) who is more than happy to help a guy out. They only charge $45 per hour ($25 cheaper than anyone else around)and are also more than happy to talk/walk you through a repair if you don't want to take it in. I asked them once in small talk, why so much cheaper than the competitors not to mention so helpful. Their response was: Its simple, If you treat the customer like a person and not a piggy bank your more likely to gain a repeat customer. (I really like that philosophy and it shows to be sooooo true!) If you need work done, be prepared to wait up to 2 weeks to get it in since the service dept. is always swamped. That says a little something about their philosophy working.

Holy crap
,
have you guys ever tried to call polaris to find out what to do in a case like this. This is insane they have these people in Minnesota that just answer the phone and advise you to take it to the dealer. It doesn't matter how many times you tell them the dealer is the problem. The dealer in Austin will fix it but that equals 500 miles in my truck and trailer to get it resolved. I have to drive up there to drop off and then go pick up. CRAZY. There is no one you can talk to at polaris that can give you any advice about warranty lack of service just take it to the dealer.
THAT COULD BE AUTOMATED. it would at least save some payroll.

I would definitely contact Polaris HQ! That is complete B.S. Last Fall when I was looking to trade my Buell off for a 300 Sportsman for my daughter & DRZ400 for me I went to my local dealer first. Didn't have much to offer on a trade(bad time of the year to unload a bike) so I contacted a buddy of mine a few hours South who gave me an awesome deal. I talked to my local dealer before comitting to it and they said to go for because they couldn't come close to the deal offered. No problems with them when bringing in for service/warranty related issues. A lot of the car dealerships are getting that way here. Same group of people own almost every dealership around & think they can continue to hose people and get away with it. Drove 700 miles round trip to buy my last truck and still saved $.

JK500sp That bites !!! I traded victory jacpot in for 550+850 xpfrom dealer that would take trade in toward atv's, local dealer wasnt interested but he has no problem doing my breather + balljoint recall And sevice work even though I didnt buy from there.I also bought a sport touring motorcycle from a private party a whole state away had a issue brought it to my local dealer in ma. looked up history and did a bunch of recalls that were never addressed and i didnt even buy from them, then i hear a story like that What about about dealer support I think Polaris would like to hear about It But better send letter fast Stamps might be going up and might cost more to send letter to Mexico LOL
