a couple more questions
#1
First, I want to say, you guys have have been alot of help on my 325 Magnum and a big thanks go to all who helped.
When checking the engine oil do you check it with the dipstick screwed in or screwed out and resting on the threads?
My second question is, the drive belt squeals a little when I take off or creeping forward to park it in my shop. I don't ride it hard or take off at full throttle, just a normal start. Is it normal for the belt to do that, or is it possible when the idle was set to high it glazed the belt a little? It doesn't feel like it's slipping any noticable amount, it's just more of an annoyance than anything. It's worse when it's cold than when it's warmed up. Also, I have a new belt for it, do you think I should go ahead and change it? Thanks again, Jim

Screw the dipstick all the way in.
If it were me and I had a spare belt, I'd change it out. Maybe someone else can confirm this, but I thought I read here a while back about lightly hitting the sheaves with some extra fine steel wool. You don't want to really overdo it, just kinda getting any surface stuff off. Now if I remember right, I thought I read where someone else said not to.
Not trying to confuse you any, just hoping maybe someone can clear that up before you take it apart.

Thanks scooter. I was pretty sure about the dipstick, just wanted to confirm if.
On the belt. We're loading up our wheelers and taking them to the mountains in NM in about a week so I'm thinking it would be best if I go ahead and change it. I been tossing around whether I should or not, but you made my mind up. Plus the fear of having to do it on a mountain side doesn't appeal to me. Besides, who knows how the high alt might affect it? I guess, I should order a couple of manuals for it instead of asking silly questions, but everyone on the forums seem to want to help so it's been easier to ask. Jim

I don't think changing it would hurt, plus the old belt can be used as spare just in case something happens down the road.
I'm still finding parts to quads I don't have anymore.
