Hello, I have a 96' big bear 350 2x4. I recently got it running, put on some vampires, rebuilt the carburetor, new battery, and new air filter. I've been on some mud riding with it and after about 2 trips the rear end started squeaking really loud, maybe brakes or barrens? I don't know much about atv's although I want to invest a little and make the big bear mud-ride-able. So (in detail) what exactly do I need and how to do this to make this baby able to go tearin' through the mud and how to fix the squeak, also i have to press this little piece back with a flathead to put it into reverse how do I make it move in and out automatically? Also anything that will increase the performance and to make it sound (bad). Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Did you check to make sure there was fluid in the differential? What type of brake is on the rear? May be the axle bearings that are sqeaking. Where are you talking as far as the screw driver and getting into reverse? Does it have a reverse dial on the dash beside the key? The reverse lever on my two yamahas are the right side of the motor as you are sitting on the quad...the dial on the dash pulls the lever back and then downshift from neutral...if the rear brake is a hydraulic disk...i would suggest taking the caliper of and then riding and see if the noise is still there...good luck...keep posting with more info if you need more help!

Okay, I think i've managed to fix the squeeking. Although I want to go mud riding (able to submerge the entire four wheeler (but snorkal head). I don't have a snorkal cause I need to know what I need sealed etc, before i install the snorkal.

 

I don't mean to ask a stupid question...but I will anyway...your four wheeler is two wheel drive right? I guess before I planned on snorkeling and going through all of this I would at least start with a four wheel drive ATV...if you don't think that it is that big of a deal I would say otherwise...can't help with the snorkel...I try to stay out of that stuff...highlifter forums may be able to give you some answers!
