Default HEY TLC (and whoever else) topped out the 500efi

revved out at 7080 RPM and hit what looked like 60 or atleast 59 mph. it would hit the 7080, cut out for a sec to 7040ish and pick back up, so it was TOPPED OUT. my fathers 04 carb topped out at 57-58 when i had it at 7000 rpm, maybe the inch taller tires helped my efi..

I was talking to a local dealer yesterday about a clutch kit for my 08 500 efi touring as I added 27" tires. I told him it was reving at 6240 and he told me it should hit the rev limiter at around 6250-6300 so if yours was reving into the 7's I suggest you may have an issue with your clutch or the tach!

My 05 500HO topped out at 7060 give or take 20 RPM, and that was good for about 58ish MPH, so sounds right to me. 7000 RPM for an overhead cam engine thats balanced right shouldn't be a problem, there are street bikes turning 12,000 plus with no issues

dont forget guys, it doesn't matter how many rpm's you rev any engine as once you go past the peak hp curve your going backwards in the power range. just a thought.

Somethings wrong with your clutch or you have put in a clutch kit,,Mine is running 62 mph at 6600 rpm..IF it hit 7000 RPM it would spin the belt off ,, Mine is running at the very top at that speed.

Correct Stendori, There is always Hp and Torque and their peaks cross each either at a certain point,,High RPM dont mean HP .
