Default 99 Wolverine

99 Wolverine 350
I have a squeeking in the front end. Changed brakes in front and still cant get rid of it. Noise ( chirp ) starts when you make a tight turn ( left or right), slow speed. After that it it just keeps going. Any suggestions? i looked for areas to lube but nothing is there.
Another thing I am running into is the throttle limiter for reverse somtimes make the bike pop and miss when I am forward. I know it is tied in with the emergency brake- any way to get around that limiter?
Thanks, Matt

Default Wheel Bearings

Have you checked the front wheel bearings for that chirp? The actual bearings don't make the noise, but the brake caliper stays stationary and then the rotor slightly moves and the the brake rubs on the rotor making the noise. Good news is that if this is the problem, you can change them yourself for about 40-45 bucks.

Default Wolvy

Thanks, Mudslinger.
I did not see any chucking in the wheels ( up or down) when I pulled them. if I replace the bearings, will that take care of the problem? Or is the problem in the caliper or rotor? I will replace either I just have to get rid of this chirping. It just started up and is driving me nuts. My first rodeo with these things!
Any idea about this throttle limiter? can I snip the wire?????
Apreciate the help, Matt

Default Bearing replacement

Before you start tearing into things...jack up the quad and push in and pull out on the top/bottom of front wheels...if there is play there it is a bearing issue. If this is the case...replace bearings...remove axle nut (probably castle nut/cotter pin)...take off brake caliper and braket on top of hub for brake line...take nut off of upper and lower ball joints (castle nuts)...take nut off of tie rod end...pull off the hub...now the fun. Bearings have to go their own way out...inner goes one way and outer goes the other (I use a flat screwdriver and a large hammer to persude them. Keep the spacer! You can trash the seals and three bearings...keep one bearing. Make sure youi see how seals go back in...use heat to get the bearings out (heat outside of hub) and WD-40. The bearing you kept...use something to cut a slice in the outer race...***** and inner race can be thrown away...you will use the sliced outer race to push the new bearings back in (slice allows it to shrink a bit so you can get it back out). I use bearings from all-***** (rockymountainatv/mc) you will get bearings and seals for one side only for about 20 bucks! Post back with updates or questions!
