Default 850XP '09 lots of blue smoke on WOT?

My bike only has about 700 miles on it and I just got back from a weekend with some friends and for the first time I noticed my bike was smoking real bad on acceleration from a dead stop. The bike seemed to run fine and started Ok and it has had the breather recall done on it. Not sure if it's related to rings, valves or whatever but thought I'd check in here for some thoughts and comments? Anyone?

I'd get it in and have it checked out! My bud just had the same problem...his motor is shot with 200 easy miles on it! Compression's low, piston damage, rings are shot, cylinders are scratched/gouged.

Good Luck!

My buddy's XP 850 is in pieces right now... the boot from the air box to the throttle bodies was leaking, and it sucked mucho dust into the engine. rings are gone, liners not scored though, just buffed completely smooth (no cross-hatch left at all.) No bearing damage either. New rings on order, honed the cylinders, we're re-assembling on thursday night, hopefully riding this weekend.

Took the bike to the dealer today. They will check it out in a few days as they are running behind on their workload.

I have done some research and I think it may be caused by a failed part under the valve cover called a "labyrinth". It seems this part can separate or delaminate and once that would happen it would allow oil to blow up into the airbox...and my airbox was full of oil! Also the part number has been updated for this part to a new design.

I only checked the airbox after I started this thread. I will update once I hear from the dealer.

That sucks. It's probably toast... hope you have an extended warranty and a good dealer.
