Default 04 Honda recon 250 ES going into nuetral

I have a 04 honda recon 250ES and lately when going down a hill it seems like it goes into nuetral until you hit the throttle a little then it catches the gear...I don't remember it doing this when i first got it. is there something wrong with the clutch or something?...is it suppose to be like this? or is it suppose to use the engine for brake while in 1st or 2nd going downhill?

They are an one way clutch bearing thats holds the engine back when deaccerated going down hill,[like an spagg bearing].IMO i would check that bearing it in the cetriagual clutch inside front engine cover..
