Default 08 Sportsman x2 gear selector problem

I am wanting to know what would be the problem with my gear indicater on the speedo? It will register P,R,H, No N, No Low, which in turns means I cant get 4x4 in low unless I hold the button in and It will only start in Park. I imagine it must a sensor of some sort and not sure which one thanks for any help!!!!!

Do you mean the ATV actually does not go into low range,or just the indicator on the speedo does not read low range when the ATV is in low range?

It will go in to N and Low and go but the electronics arnt reading it so the 4x4 will not work and just the N and Low symbols stay blank on the speedo all the others gears are showing on dash and functioning right

I have seen either the gear selecter switch or the speedometer go bad and read stuff just like that. Do you have access to a good selecter switch? They are common to most newer Polaris ATVs and helps to rule out the problem. Or a known good speedo from another unit.
