Hey guys I'm looking to drop in a motor I picked up recently... I'm taking a 2001 scrambler 500 4x4 motor and dropping it into a 2000 scrambler 500 4x4. I have a complete donor bike so if there are any specific changes from 2000 to 2001 I should have what I need. I'm wondering if it'll drop right in? Also, are there any tricks for removing the motor. Doesn't look too bad, but I haven't really dug in yet!

No tricks involved,just basic tools other than the clutch puller,big drain pan for coolant,you can clamp off hoses to save quite a bit,AND good fingers! You can either disconnect stator wiring OR just remove flywheel,remove stator and secure out of the way to reuse in donor engine(if stator is ok) Remove oil hoses,secure out of the way. Motor mounts at rear,side and front,remove engine from left side. OPT

 

Not a bad job. Not as bad as it looks.
