not trying to pick a fight or anything, but, helmets , depending on terrain can do more damage than not wearing one.

Please give an example. For the life of me, I can't think of one instance in a crash where the rider would receive a lesser injury by NOT wearing a helmet.

Not sure what terrain you're referring to here, but all earth is fairly hard on the human head...except for sand. Even then, it can deliver a nasty and deadly blow depending on how you hit it.

I can remember many instances I've personally experienced or directly witnessed in which helmets have saved lives or prevented serious injury. But not once in my 40+ years of riding have I heard of a crash where the helmet caused the only injury and the rider would have been injury free had they not wore the helmet.

Just my $0.02...

I know I should, But I have never worn a helmet while riding. I know its like seat belts and an accident can happen on your own street at any time, but they are just too uncomfortable for me and I wouldn't enjoy riding as much with one on all the time. Granted, I know that it is easy to roll or flip an ATV, but we mostly ride in soft sand creeks at slower speeds, not rock climbing these things. That being said, I DO realize that I could be hurt pretty badly without a helmet.

Hope she gets better.

That statement makes it sound like you already had a bad wreck without a helmet...
