I am thinking of getting a Raptor this summer and I know that stock vs. stock it is about even with the Banshee in speed.

What mods are presently available for the Raptor to make it even faster? Is the Shee still the fastest available "modded" quad out there?

Just curious...

Stock for stock the the Raptor is a little faster but the Banshee actually FEELS faster due to the peaky powerband of the 2 stroke. The Raptor has a powerband that pulls strongly from bottom to top, the difference is night and day. Currently the only way (I know of) to get a Raptor to even run with a highly modified 'Shee is with a cam, headwork, Turbo, and it wouldn't hurt to squeeze a little NOS.
For a shear arm-ripping adrenaline rush, the Banshee is hard to beat with a Raptor. Then again the Raptor has superior suspension and is able to get it's power to the ground more effectively and efficiently than the Banshee can in most circumstances. They are worlds apart in the type of power that they put out.

After a Polaris, I figured you for a DS! I think the Banshee isn't good for trail riding. Now if you put on a very good rider, I think he or she could make up for the lack in low end power. As far as mods, I don't now of any engine mods like cam or porting yet but give it time. Pipes, K&N, gearing change, and such are out there. I still think - from a Polaris(like I did) to a DS(like I did) is closer. I love my ds but you have to man handle the 460lbs sometimes. I like the DS in the woods but like I said, you sometimes have to man handle it. Being from Canada, stay true to your country and buy Bombarider(while keep your $ in country).

I was once thinking about the DS but honestly the Raptor gave me that dumbfounded look that we rarely get in life. It looks mean and... well it looks mean. My buddy Zorro is the one who wants a DS. After throwing the Scrambler around, anything will be more nimble! As for power...I really like the way my modded Scrambler acts but it is too heavy and whoops kill me!

By the way, I was born in the states... so I can stay true to country no matter what choice I make!

Raptor?
Banshee?(if they redesigned it, yes!)
Ds650? Maybe, but $$$
650ex? Who knows?
Plaris 700 twin? Maybe not!

They have a 1500$ rebate on the DS right now (7500 instead of 9000)...but will "the boss" be happy to manhandle the 500lbs beast?..I'm afraid not.

I bought the Raptor in the fall. Tried to hook up with you and Zorro a few times to ride but it never happened. I am REALLY happy with the Raptor. I put on just a Big Gun Slip on and re-jetted and it woke the Quad up alot, plus it sounds great. I ran a modded Banshee (FMF pipes, don't know what else) in Joliette late fall and I took him. It was very hard sand (partially frozen)and I hooked up a took off. Ran him on a poaved road after and still beat him but Much closer. I am not a particularly awesome rider but decent. He was good, could wheelie like crazy. I think if the road had been longer he would have caught up though. My opinion is to get the Raptor because Zorro has the shee. That way you guys can swap sometimes. Anyway, hope to ride with you this summer.

Bingo1----> Good idea about swapping quads. We do it pretty much every ride. He gets off my quad and says something like: "Wow... it hooks up great in 4x4... but it's too darn heavy!" I usually get off, sick of kickstarting and say: " Amazing acceleration, super light... but in the whoops I pinned the twist throttle by mistake and almost hit a tree!"

We should organize a ride once the dirt appears from under the ice. I am an average rider and this summer want to push up my riding level a bit. Before Zorro I used to ride with the in-laws on Sportsmans... now it's total adrenaline!
