Question 2011 poaris ranger 800xp makes loud squealing noise when deceleratin or coasting

hello, my new ranger 2011 800xp makes a loud squealing noise when it is decelerating or coasting and about to stop without me applying the brakes. it feels and sounds like the belt or gears are gearing down to a lower gear. Kind of like putting on the brakes. And it kinda has a jerky movement. This happens when i am slowing the ranger down (just before i apply the brakes). The ranger is brand new and only has an hour of riding on it. It has made this noise from the very beginning. It does seem that the noise is becoming a little less intense overtime. Two of my friends have just bought the same ranger recently and they do not have this problem. Has anyone experienced this also?
please let me know. Thank you.

welcome to the forum. sounds like maybe a clutch sound or maybe belt. it has ebs braking so it may be that. either way since it sound be under warranty i would havea dealer look at it as they might warranty it if you take it apart to fix it.

Welcome to the forum!

When you get a chance...create an album...and upload some pics. Also...when you get the issue resolved...if you could report back.

rangers do not have ebs......what your hearing is the belt sliding across the bottom and sides of the drive clutch.....if you keep you foot barely on the throttle it should quit and also it will give you some engine braking ......

All of these make this noise to some degree. Some are louder than others.

It should get quieter after a few hours. Of not, the belt should be replaced under warrruntee.

Zero throttle (coasting in H) can cause the belt to slip a bit and squeal. I think it is mentioned somewhere in the Polaris info, maybe owners manual.
