91 Honda 250x KEEPS LOSING SPARK! PLZ HELP!
#1
i got a 91 onda 250x that i have been having problems with spark... when its cold most the time it has spark and will start right up but it seems like when it gets warmed up and been shut off for a while it will lose spark.. and then after a while it will come back.. then i put the plug right in and it starts right up.. i dont know what could be causing this... the reverse light wire broke off where it connects underneath that cover on the right side case so i just used electircal tape to wrap the exposed end up and put the cover back on.. the reverse light dont come on though.. and ive gotten spark and started it with it like that so i dont think thats what could be causing it.. anyone else got any ideas... its really annoying...

well lucky for you there are only a few reasons why your spark could be messing up. first off if it starts when its cold and then once its warm it quits. sounds to me like your coil could be to blame. another thing you could try is to unscrew the spark plug cap and clip 1/2" off the plug wire and then screw the cap back onto the lead. the cdi box could be something else to look at. last but not least you have a stator on the opposite side of your clutch. that could also be shorting out when it gets warm. im not 100% sure what it could be but those are what it could be. sorry i couldnt be more help
