Hey, I'm thinking about entering my Raptor in some races this summer, what all would I need to get my stock Raptor race ready?

A +3 or +4 axle, tires, and shocks to start with.

A 350 twin 2-stroke !!
Sorry, just kidding.
Actually a friend of mine has a Raptor and I was impressed with the overall smoothness of the power delivery. If I rode in the woods or trails I would probably own one. In my opinion the engine is fine as is. On the other hand, something needs to be done to lower and widen the stance. The Raptor just will not slide in stock form. Seems Very 'tippy'.

18" tires, extended axle, lower the front one inch, kill switch, nerf bars, clutch lever to remove excess wires and cables, new handlebars, set of front and rear sprockets for different tracks, complete exhaust kit, and good medical insurance.

I suggest not to mess with the engine except for the jetting needed due to the exhaust system. I race mine on MX races. I will change the front suspension later on (When i get $$$) and I will install a K&N filter.

In case you are a newbie (like me) I figured this answer may be more of what you are looking for:
1. Riding gear: GOOD DOT (Snell is better) approved helmet and GOOD boots, goggles, GOOD gloves, etc...
2. Nerf bars
3. Tether kill switch
4. Number plates
If the event is AMA, then you need to be an AMA member. If not, you need to check with the promoter. After that it kind of depends. I looked all this stuff up over the last month or so.

I think most of the equipment suggested is right on. I raced on sunday with nothing other than safety gear, adjusting the suspension, and some minor maintenance. If you run XC or Scrambles, I don't think you need anything new. Just upgrade stuff as it breaks. The lone exception is the rear axle. I would like a +2 right now. I have only upgraded bars, added handguards, and replaced grips following a crash. A swingarm plate is good insurance against a spendy disc/sprocket replacement bill. Also - remove your headlights if you don't need them. I busted the black housing in the crash.

when you install wider a-arms can you use the stock shocks? broke my a-arm this weekend and would like to go wider but do not want to spend the money for shocks right now.

Jad, i just bought 3+3 a-arms for $600 (way too much for a quad part) and he said stock shocks are fine, but since the shock mounts on the arms are further out, it will make your suspension relally soft. So you can crank the shock down to firm and use it that way (for a while) but sooner or later you will be buying aftermarket shocks
