Default 08 sportsman 800 starting issue

Im trying to troubleshoot my starting problem?? the best way to explain it is when the machine is in park and I go to turn the key which I only turn it to the on position first to let the fuel pump cycle and then turn it to the full start postion it cranks over once but doesnt start then kills Then I turn the key back off do the same thing again and it starts right up what could be the problem???? Thanks

I think either the battery is going or there may be a flat spot on the starter....

check the battery voltage before and while trying to start it to see if it drops down alot. this would tell you if the battery is getting week. imo

Fuel not getting through the filter the first time? Or at least not enough.

Not sure on the 800 models ....The EFI models should be inside the tank at the pick-up I think..........They may have one in-line also and just a screen in the tank, I am sure someone with a 800 will chime in and answer your question.......Caper......

under the box in the front , inline filter, if battery is getting weak it can cause the starter not to engage every time
