any raptor guys have aftermarket CAM or PISTON yet
#4
ok guys here is the BIG problem!
everyone only makes 11:1 or 12:1 pistons!
powroll and my local shop (which was going to order me the bikeworks kit) BOTH said that with a single cylinder thats 660cc 11:1 WOULD REQUIRE 100% race gas!
NOT aviation fuel
NOT 94 octane with and octane boosters
Just pure race gas
to me thats out of the question because it would pose a big pain needing race gas.
powroll told me that 10:1 would not make any noticable power increase since we are like 9.2:1 now.
Powroll also does not have their race cam out now because they have to redesign the valve springs.
I called wiseco and they won't have a piston ready for another month.
Ct has no cam or piston on their site
bikeworks only has 11:1 or 12:1 (RACE GAS)
trinity? lower than 11:1????
curtis sparks (well if it's anything like their pipe and airbox/ wil be out in 4 years!)
white bros has a cam I think. Anyone hear if we'll need hard faced rockers?
I REALLY WANT TO TEAR INTO MY MOTOR, but think it may be best to wait and see what becomes available.

Dseater,
Why do you feel your quad is underpowered? Personally I would not bore the engine. It has enough displacement for two engines. Up the compression.
When you start into the engine you have to decide what level you want to go. Wild or mild. If you want a full race setup you cannot avoid race gas. Bikeworx has a 12:1 full race piston (325.00) and race cam (220.00). But you will have to buy springs and caps and hard weld the rocker arms and redo the valve guides then port and polish to improve flow. After that is done you will run into carberation problems. Trying to get enough gas into the cylinder to take full advantage of the setup. If you want mild I think you may get away with 11:1 with a high end powroll cam without using race gas. A friend of mine has this setup on his 440ex and he doesn't need race gas. Take your chances.
DsStevens,
Where did you get the AC propeg nerfs? My local dealer has them order for two months. Do they move back and lower the footpeg or do they leave them where they were? Do you have a picture?
Blue Raptor: TCS Shocks, LoneStar A-Arms +3, DuraBlue axle +5, Fastline Brake Lines, Big Gun Pipe, GYTR Silencer, No-airlid, DG Bumper, Renthal Bar, 42t rear, 12t front, front grooved car tires(19x6x10), Rear turf tamers(18x9.5x8), Reinforced wheels,

yes it's ok to run 11:1 in a 400ex or 440 because thats alot smaller bore, but EVERY motor builder is telling me that I'd HAVE to run race gas only in my raptor with 11:1 being that its such a large 660cc

dsEATER,
Did you call FST (Four Stroke Tech)? I gave you the name and the guys phone#. I'm almost positive he makes a larger bore 10.5-1, which he said only requires premium pump fuel, and has a cam, as well as has already been doing porting on the Raptor. If you haven't phoned him yet, I would suggest atleast speaking with him and picking his brain. To me, he seems to have good knowledge of the Raptor and is doing quite a bit of work with them. FYI, he used to work for Powroll!
Hope this helps and if you call this guy, post back so others can hear about them.
Take Care, Swytak!
