Arrow 2011 Sportsman XP Touring Gauges

Does anyone know why Polaris down graded the gauges on the 2011 SP XP Touring? On both the 850 and 550?

Here is a pic of the new gauge cluster...any reason this would be replaced from the all digital that the 2009 XP came out with???

2011 Gauge cluster

2009 XP gauge cluster

Thanks,

biz

All of the gauges ive seen on the 2011 sportsman xp and touring look like the picture of the 2009 that you posted. Even my 2011 sportsman 550 eps has the digital gauge cluster.

Question

Well...leave it to Polaris to confuse the matter then!

I've actually seen both. The 2010 XP Touring model has the digital 2009 style. Then the 2011...changed over to the newer digital/analog style.

I think the digital is standard on the limited XP touring models?!?

I just don't get the change...if there is a change...I mean the picture says it all right?

Anything to save a buck.

Amazing that they would put an analog cluster in a machine that costs that much.

All the new 2011 that I have seen including the RZR and RZR S and Rangers all have them here now.

I like the old one better, a lot easier to read

i like the new style better as you can monitor rpm's and mph at the same time. the old style you have to keep switching back and forth......maybe thats why they changed it

Because they finally realized that fancy digital displays are fine for cars but will not hold up in the conditions ATV go through compared to simpler analog gages.

I like the speedo on our 97 SP500, its cable operated (much tuffer than a wire) needs no wheel sensor, has no digital at all and does not even have to work and you still have AWD! It is just alot more reliable and only $120 to replace not $400.

Odometer, trip meter and a overheat light ,what else really matters on a off road ATV? I dont need a speedo to tell me when to change oil or a belt.

Electronic do like these conditions.

I suppose I just got used to my '09 XP display...with all the functionality that it had. Seemed very TOP of the line to me.

Not certain that this new style display has all the same functionality. But looking at the pic...I do not see any select type buttons?
