Default One Day of Plowing and already a broken winch

Already broke the winch on the 850. Anyone have any issues with the polaris winches??? Dealer thinks it maybe somnething with the free spool engagement. Thank God its under warranty.

I have a 2007 Polaris/warn winch that's been used and abused and still works great. Maybe just a fluke. Or the old saying, they just don't build em like they used to. Does Warn still make the winches for Polaris?

Not sure. A couple of my buddies said something about the gear inside being made of plastic, don't know how true that is. The machine only has about 15 hours on it and the only thing I used it for was the plow. It will reel in but when I put the littlest amount of tension on it it stops.

The Polaris Warn winches are made in China and are garbage. Some work fine, some don't last. My buddy had one that lasted only a few uses. Need to go with a non-Polaris Warn. My RT 3.0 on my RZR has been put to the test big time this winter and is working great.

Mine is an '05 and it says Warn built exclusively for Polaris on it...It's been great so far...Used mostly for plowing.....Only issue I had was a couple of the long bolts coming loose but other than that, no complaints....If you plan on taking one apart, make sure you do it very carefully , lots of things that gotta go in a certain way...

Popo shipped the Warn work to China in 06 (right around the time the versa winch came out). The workability tests came out STRONGER in every category over Warn. Or at least that's the propaganda the employees where feed.

I have had 3 of them without a failure, Typically the specs on the china crap are tighter for this very reason. They don't want failures, they are expensive for all players.

Im on my 3rd Polaris 2500lbs winch. Yes they do have plastic gears and the SUCK. I will keep using them until the warranty is over and then junk it and get a Warn.

it would say made for polaris by warn on it if it was a warn winch w/ a polaris name on it. it might just be one of those cheap overseas winches w/ a polaris bagde on it.
