Sportsman Owners Check This Out!
#1
I started hearing a ticking sound in reverse about a week ago but after checking it over found nothing... Had time to look it over again and found a terrible problem....
The drive pin holding the rear driveshaft on to the transmission shaft was working its way out and had ground its way into the transmission casing. It had almost worked completely through... I also checked the front only to find it also had been working itself out. I drove them both baack in and checked over the rest of the machine... Found the throttle side front lower a arm where it mounts to the frame in the front of the machine was ovalled out a little... Any way to fix this?

What year is your sportsman ?. What you might do to keep this from happening again is to put a drop of red Loctite on both sides of the drive pin and let it dry, that should keep the pin from working loose again.

seems like it would be weak or smal roll pind as it should be pretty much impossiable to work it self out. the lock tite is a good idea to try. the A arm bolts should already had loc lite on them. imo

Use shear bolts from a snowblower. I know ariens bolts work. Get one that will fit with a light tap and secure it with a nyloc nut. Had to do that with my 05 800-kept crappin out roll pins. Never had an issue after that!
