Which brass plug to drill out for Pilot Screw access? (pic included)
#1
Hey everyone,
I bought an 05' Predator 500 a couple days ago. Wont start in the cold (like the choke doesn't work), but runs great if we push start it. Already bought a new battery.
Took the carb apart and the everything looks good, but I'm going to soak it and give it a good clean today anyway.
I want to check the pilot screw, but am wondering which brass plug on the bottom is hiding the pilot screw (so I can drill it out).
So... which one?

Thanks!

Sweet thanks!
I should've waited 5 minutes instead of buying the service manual online. Although, it only cost me $6.95 (for a backup copy) so I guess it's good to have. My paper manual got ruined so... you know... glad I found the site.

OK.. so I cleaned up the carb and drilled out the brass plug (man that's some soft metal).
My pilot screw is tightened all the way! In the service manual it says the screw should be set at 2 1/2 "turns" (900 degrees) out, yet here we are set at 0 turns from the factory? What should I do?

Set it to what the manual says!! I've also found some closed or partially open fuel/air screws on a few 325 and 330 Polaris carbs which are notorious for being cold blooded and have to use the choke excessively! This is a "base" setting,if you have access to a carb adjuster tool, while idling, you can slowly tun screw in until rpm drops, then turn out until rpms at highest, then set between the two points. Should cure the cold starting/idling problems and having to the use the choke too much. Good luck OPT

I should have cautioned this but when your drill bit breaks through the brass plug, it can also tighten the air/fuel mixture screw in all the way.
Not that you need this info since you have it out, but down the road someone else may benefit from it.

Well... I did change the spark plug already. Here's the old one (with and without flash):
