new to Utility ATV's, have a new Rancher 420,
mainly recreational ofroading. Do you suggest vest type body armors? or just a jacket is fine? Im not going fast, just reasonable offroading.
What most ya'll wear in what condition?
thanks jason

I do the same type of riding and I don't wear body armor or even MX boots. I just wear 9" work boots, MX gloves (mainly for the padding on the grip), helmet, goggles, jeans, and on top I will wear whatever the weather dictates (sweatshirt, or lighter shirt, carhartt if cold, etc.) But I never wear short sleeves. Now I'm not saying I am doing it correctly. I'm just saying that's what I do.

I dress pretty much the same as budedm but seldom wear a helmet.

You are riding a machine that can kill you, it is best to wear all the protection you can.
Your machine weighs in at over 600 lbs, imagine what that weight would do to your head with no helmet in a rollover.
Most injuries in atv accidents involve no helmet or protective gear. Don't become a statistic.

I wear just the basic stuff you will find around the house...jeans (never shorts), basic work boots, t-shirt or sweatshirt or coat depending upon the weather, always a helmet, goggles, and riding gloves. The riding gloves are a necessary for the padding IMO.

Helmet, goggles and boots are absolute necessities. Anyone who rides anywhere without them is an idiot. If you're riding in rough terrain, it's entirely possible to fall off and hit your head on a rock even at low speed.
Short boots are OK, but taller ones are MUCH better since they prevent the possibility of getting your pants caught in the chain.

I ride with a helmet, goggles, long pants and gloves at all times. T-shirt or long sleeve depends on the weather/conditions. Usually mud boots, unless I am riding a machine without full fenderwells in which case I'll put on my Alpinestars.
Helmet because accidents happen and the brain is the only organ you can't regrow. I don't care to be a burden to my loved ones or society by becoming a brain-dead dumbass who didn't wear his helmet when he crashed his atv. Think about it this way....do you really have all that much sympathy for someone who smokes cigarettes all their life and then gets sick with lung cancer?...they kind of brought it on themselves...same thing with head injuries that could have been prevented by wearing a helmet
Goggles because even if I'm riding ahead of my buddies, dirt/mud/etc still flings forward off the front tires and into my eyes....plus the wind wil dry out your eyes
Gloves because when (notice I didn't say "if") you have an accident, your instinct is to put your hands out in front of you to stop your fall...hand injurys are the most painful to have heal because you are always using them.
