Default 28 tires on stock 550 xp?

anyone know if a stock xp 550 can handle 28/11/14,28/9/14 tires without a clutch kit and/or exhaust and optimizer?

At the very least I'd consider a clutch kit. You'll loose some bottom end for sure. It will also depend on the tire you put on. The heavier and more aggressive the tire the more noticeable it will be. An optimizer and exhaust isn't a bad idea but with the machine properly clutched it isn't a have to. The best bang for your buck would be clutching IMO.

Default 550 xp tire size

thanks for the info, I dont want to put a clutch kit in so I will go with 27/10/14 all around. would adding the hmf slip on be a benefit?

It will help a little but you won't benefit from it's full potential without an optimizer and intake. I did a HSP pipe on my 07 500 with a little gain but it made a big difference with the addition of an optimizer and intake.

I have 27" tires on my 550 and no clutch kit or exhaust. It deffinatly made a difference on my top end but I honestly feel it effected the low end power very minnimal

I have to jump on the clutch kit bandwagon. Much better low end grunt and save on belt wear. Best bang for your buck spinning bigger tires, or even stock ones depending on how/where you ride.
