Better MX quad? Banshee or trx250r
#2
i have a built 96 banshee and built a 250r for a friend. the 250r is a 87 with a 86 top bored 100 over. very fast with alot of extras but he can't keep up with the banshee. he even likes the banshee better, it doesn't beat you to death.

The 250r will dominate a Banshee in any form of MX racing. Any two compatent riders on an MX track will favor the 250r over the Shee any day! On an MX track the 250r will overpower, and out handle the Shee to the point that the Shee will be non existant. The Shee has more raw power, and great acceleration, but on an MX track, handling and putting the power you have to the ground is the key to wins!

I own a raptor and an'89 250r.The honda is a far superior quad on a mx track.Nothing turns better than a honda. As far as jumping goes, both of them are great jumpers. The honda tracks through the whoops better also.I love my raptor in the dunes though.I think it would take more to get the banshee track ready than the other two.I think it's mostly the rider anyway.Just an opinion.

I was at the MX track yesterday - just as an observer - and a 250R took first in the Pro category. A 400EX with some kind of professional built motor (National something? - I think) took a close second - maybe 30 yards behind. Everything else was way back there. There was also a 250R in the middle of the pack that could never pass a different 400EX, but the R would quickly gain on him coming out of corners. There were not any Raptors out there and I didn't any Banshees racing either. But I have to agree w/ buddah, I think a lot of it is the rider.
I'm thinking that if I were to buy something to just play with on the MX track, I would probably go with the 400EX. I don't want to tear up my R on a MX track and I think the 400 is about $800 cheaper than a Raptor (you don't need reverse if you spend all your time on the track). Take that $800 and put it in a wider axle and A-arms and then go have some fun. I would never be seriously into MX, so I think I'd want the dependablity of a 4 stroke and not have to worry about working on it every weekend. Anyway, I've blabbed enough...
