1996 Polaris sportsman 500 that im looking to sell. It doesn't run because it needs a new fly wheel. The back breaks don't work. The front tires have about 3/4 of their tread left and the back tires have about 1/4 of the tread left. It has all of the wiring set up for a winch, and a custom front bumper.

is this worth messin with????

 

spend a little to make a little, BUT, a flywheel and brakes equals a running quad that equals a confident sale(for the customer) which would equal a happy customer shelling out $2-3k for ya........unless you're gonna let it go cheaper and nonrunning........one thing about quads, i've always asked myself, "would i buy this for the price i'm looking at in this condition and willing to do the work or not?" obviously, some people don't want to do the work and just want a running quad and are willing to pay for the running quad. just my two cents, sorry if i gave you a nickel's worth.

 

thats my thoughts...found a runnin 500 motor for $400,..that be 850 in a nice sportsman that would look real good beside mt xplorer!!!

 

that's not a bad investment. sounds like you got a plan. good luck! let us know how it turns out......if it were me, i'd probably do just like you and do it. sounds like a WIN/WIN situation........that's a nice looking quad by the way!

Best bet is to part it out.You can get a ton into these older Polaris by the time you fix EVERYTHING that is broke or worn.
