Honda 400 EX or Suzuki Z400 are the logical next steps up from a 250.

Honda 400ex all the way! You will have no problem riding with any other quad and have more fun on any trail, track, or dune. I have owned most every sport quad out there and have had more fun on this little 400ex. another thing great about it is you feel like you can ride this quad when other quads feel like they ride you.

The 400ex is a better quad and very reliable. But even its becoming antiquated.

Maybe you should look up the word antiquated.

What type of riding are you going to be doing? The shee is a mean quad but they are made for hammer down wide open fun and the suspension and handling is not great on the trails.
The 400ex does great on the trails, but it does not pull to hard on the top end in stock form. The ex handles good even tho the front stock shocks suck.
Both are good quads for short money. Parts are a dime a dozen and both are tried tested and true. If you dont like to work on quads get the ex. They are bullet proof and dont require the rebuilds like the 2 strokes.

For drag racing, I'll take a shee. For pleasure riding, give me the EX.
