new to atv few questions

Hi, I'm new to atvs I just turned 18 and got a small loan to help start my credit, so I figured id try something new.I grew up rideing dirtbikes and rebuilding the motors. I bought a 2006 predator 500 with pipes on it, I went ahead and bought high compression racing pistons and put them in. I was wanting to go mudding soon I know its a sports atv but I didn't think that would stop me from mudding. Now my question, is there any modifacations I should put on this atv to help with mudding. Like I said I'm new to it and just need some advice

Larger aggressive rear tires. My friend put 24" mud witch rear tires on the back of his 2wd Kawasaki Lakota and the ATV goes through spots that once would easily get him stuck.
His stock rear tires were 22" I think.

Sorry my friend tires were called "Swamp witches" not "Mud witches".
Since your stock rear tires are 20 x 11-9 it may be harder find mud tires for 9" rim".
Duro makes 22"x 12.5-9 Excavator they would work if you have the clearance to move from 11" wide tires to 12.5" .Duro Tires - Excavator & X-Treme
You may even want to try the 25"x12-9 since the Pred has a powerful 500 motor.
They look like this.

The X-Treme may work for you also. They come in 21" and 25" for 9" rims.

swamp lites are fine.
He did lose some top end but its a 22hp 300 and yours is a 42hp 500 so 25" tires should be ok but I don,t not know the predators gearing ratio.
You make want to just take a baby step and move from 20" to 22" so you do not throw the Peditors gearing right out of wack.
I don,t think I want to be doing that serious of mudding that I would need a snorkel kit on a 2wd.

My B-in law has a 660 raptor that he recently put the ITP mudlite sp's on. Size 20x11x9 So far he likes them and I can tell they're definitely way better in the mud than the hole shots he was running before. I'm not sure what other sizes they're available in. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sourc...Habd5w&cad=rja

Shouldn't have to worry about snorkelling. My bro runs his raptor in the mud all the time. Think he runs the maxxis rzr tires. That kid has mad skills. Seen him blast through holes that other guys with 4x4's get stuck in. Pretty much skims most of it and if he does torpedo it's easy to get out because it's so light.
