I understand some of you don't want to take a walk on the 'Dark Side' and read the results on the Honda Forum , but I was wondering if any of you know how this compares to the Raptor and Banshee? The message is below...

I just got back from the track and I was the only quad out there. It felt kinda weird, but everyone seemed to like looking and talking about the quad, so it turned out to be pretty fun. Here's my best time and speed...

9.971 seconds
69.240 MPH

On the first run the front end came up and I had to let off the throttle until it came back down. The second run I leaned further over the handlebars, but I could feel excessive wheel spin in 2nd gear.

Overall, I was very pleased and had a good time. As a reference, the Mustang GTs and Camaro 5.7s were running 9.5s. Just wait 'till I can meet them on the dirt!

Wheew! Hey bird have you worked out that "loading up" bug? If you haven't imagine what that bad boy will run when you get him dialed in!

I posted the 1/8 mile times of a friends modified Banshee on this forum about 4 weeks ago and the best i can remember his best was 9.54 or 9.04 and 71mph. I will be talking to him soon and will ask him what it was again. He runs pipes, reeds and a cool head. Did you take the R to Devil's Backbone Sat.?

BarryManilow,

I think a lot of the 'bug' was just me learning how to ride a 2 stroke. I guess the plug gets cleared, or something, after I've ran it through the gears a couple times and then it runs really well.

I think the times could have been quite a bit better if I didn't have to let off the throttle in first gear and wait for the front end to come back down before I nailed it again.

Oh well, it was my first time and I'm still learning to ride it.

Raptorrider2001,

I didn't take the R to the ranch, but I did ride out there again on the Prairie. I just ordered a paddle tire/wheel combo package from Rocky Mountain ATV and hope to make a trip to the dunes soon. You interested in going? Between the ranch, RR, Muenster, Mena AR and Little Sahara, we should be busy this year. Now I'm just waiting on the Prairie 650 to come out and read some reviews before I get it. Anyone have any opinions on that new quad?

mind taking the Raptor out to see what it will do.

It was the strip on the west side of I-35 between Denton and Sanger. There's a big junk yard as well as a MX track and a paved go-cart track at the end of the dirt road.

Let me know if you head out there.

Bart

I know exactly where you are talking about. Have you been to that mx track. If you have is it any
good? When is the strip open? Do they have test and tune days or something? Since they are so close together I might try to do a double shot
and hit both in the same day.

BOP

So you ordered sand tires, great. I can't wait to go back to Little Sahara. What brand and size did you buy ? Did you buy some knobby's too? You going to be doing any motor work soon ? I would love to send off my banshee heads to let LRD make it a 370 or 400.
